Equinor approved to extend production in Norwegian field
Norway's Equinor will continue its activities at the Åsgard A facility ahead to 2027, 12 years longer than the original technical lifetime.
The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has announced that it approved the application from state-owned Equinor to extend its permit.
The Åsgard A plant is located in the Norwegian sea and is described as especially important for the continuing production in Smørbukk and Smørbukk Sør, where gas injection wells and gas production wells are currently being installed.
In 2017, 10.2 million cubic meters of gas were delivered from the field, 2.4 cubic meters of oil and 3.4 cubic meters of natural gas liquids (NGL).
There are also expectations that the extension will lead to new drilling targets and wells connected with Åsgard A and which will benefit the recovery.
The facility's technical lifetime was based on 20 years of operation expiring in 2019.
The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate says Equinor owns a 34.57 percent share in the Åsgard field.
