Unilever powered exclusively by renewables on five continents

With a combination of PPAs, energy efficiency and green certificates, consumer goods major Unilever's energy consumption is covered by renewables in Europe, Africa, North and South America as well as Asia. CO2 taxes are the key to making companies transition, the company says.

The burning heat suffered across Europe during the summer of 2018 to a great extent brought climate change to the forefront of the population's minds. Some places, the summer heat also meant that overheated consumers saw increased need for ice cream, meaning consumer goods major Unilever, which is behind brands such as Frisko, Carte d'Or, Magnum and Ben & Jerry's, saw significant growth in the sales thereof.
