The European electricity sector has agreed that coal power will not be invested in after 2020. This is a historic decision according to the Danish Energy Association (DEA), however Deputy Director Anders Stouge also recognizes that the new agreement will not dramatically alter companies' plans.
"It is a historic decision, as this is a sector which has come to the realization that it is not a viable option to continue to fight tooth and nail to defend fossil fuels, which it has historically been tied to. So this is an indication that the sector is more forward-thinking than before," says Stouge.
