France's coming president will defend the Paris climate accord, says the French response to the anticipated announcement from the US president about whether the country will participate or not.

The international climate deal is extremely important, says Emmanuel Macron, who after his French election victory has spoken with US President Donald Trump via telephone call this Sunday.

The conversation between France's coming president and the current US president took place as the entire world awaits an announcement on the fate of the climate accord from the US government in Washington.
