Sweden plans to remove municipal veto on wind farms

Swedish authorities propose getting rid of the municipalities' right to decide, when it comes to the construction of wind farms, after hundreds of wind turbine plans have been discarded over the past year.

Sweden wants clearer rules when it comes to wind turbines. For that reason, the final decision to install a wind farm will no longer lie in the hands of the country's 290 municipalities. Instead, it will be assumed by the Swedish government, as was the case before 2009.
