Merkel speeds up Germany's electric car transition, but without pledging targets

At some point Germany will have to follow in the footsteps of its European counterparts and phase out combustion engine vehicles, says Merkel. however, the German chancellor has declined speculating on a timeframe.

Over recent months, many countries have confirmed by which year they plan to have phased out the sales of gasoline and diesel cars.
