Nordex lands 820 MW order to the US

Over the past few years, Nordex has been pursuing a strategy to regain its foothold in the US. The German wind turbine manufacturer came 820 MW closer to this ambition last month with three orders for a total 263 turbines.
"The Nordex Group finished out 2017 with strong tail-wind from the United States," said the group in a press statement.
The orders were placed by multinational but unnamed utilities. However, one of the orders – for 67 AW 125 / 3000 turbines in Texas – likely comes from fellow countrymen E.on. The statement revealed that one of the customers is an "international utility, for which Nordex worked on a comparable project completed in 2017." Last year, Nordex installed 76 of these turbines for E.on in the Bruenning's Breeze farm in Texas.
One of the utilities to place the order is described as a "regular customer," which has ordered 196 AW125/3150 turbines for two projects sized 319 MW and 300 MW respectively. Delivery of the turbines is expected to commence in summer 2018.
The good news comes after a tough year for Nordex, which like the industry overall has been impacted by the fluctuations in key markets and the general price squeeze. The announcement has also been received positively on the stock market, where the turbine manufacturer rose to its highest level in three months Tuesday afternoon. At a price of EUR 10 per share, the price is still halved what it was during the same period last year.
