Statoil considers bidding on Norwegian offshore wind

The oil company will bid on floating wind if the Norwegian state is prepared to provide long-term support for proceeds.

Last month, the Norwegian government set the stage for the country's first offshore wind auction. Politicians allocated NOK 34 million (EUR 3.5 million) in the latest National Budget to set up Norwegian Energy Partners (Norwep), which will enable a long-term offshore wind ambition. Last month, Norway's government announced that two specific areas would be opened up for concrete pilot projects in floating wind.
