CIP wins in first US offshore wind tender

It comes as a defeat for the Danish energy company Ørsted, which was the only bidder to walk away from the first offshore tender in the US with nothing. Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and Iberdrola took the full bounty, while the third bidder was awarded a massive consolation prize.

The consortium Vineyard Wind will develop the first large-scale offshore wind farm in the US. Authorities in Massachusetts are entering negotiations with the company, comprised of Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and Avangrid, regarding a power purchase agreement and the allocation of 800 MW in grid capacity after USA's first offshore wind tender.
