Vestas officially beats its own record

Vestas has received an order for 359 MW.
Phoenix Wind Repower, a subsidiary of US-based asset manager Area Management, has hired the Danish company to fill a PTC order from 2016 and thereby install turbines with a combined capacity of 383 MW. The order also includes a 10-year AOM 5000 service agreement on the units, which are expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter of next year, says Vestas in a statement.
This order brings the manufacturer's order intake for 2018 up to the hitherto unseen level of 11,477 MW. That is 301 MW more than the entire order intake from 2017 – and this comes during a small handful of exceptionally busy days and leaves room for yet-unannounced orders in the final days of this year's fourth quarter.
This also marks the company's largest repowering order to date. The wind turbine manufacturer will replace aging Clipper turbines with its own V110-2.2 MW units at three wind farms in Texas – Trinity Hills, Sherbina Mesa II and Silver Star.
"We're thrilled to partner with Ares' Infrastructure and Power strategy as they expand their wind portfolio, and move to deliver profitable returns for their customer through the long-term, sustainable, and reliable wind industry," writes Chris Brown, President of Vestas' sales and service and division in the United States and Canada, in the statement.
