Ramboll behind Chinese giant offshore wind monopiles

The first two of a total 500 offshore wind turbine monopiles – the world's largest in China's Guangdong province – have been designed and installed in record time. "China has set very aggressive targets," says Søren Juel Peterson, Global Market Director at Ramboll.

With Danish company Ramboll as lead designer, the first two of a total 500 planned offshore wind turbine monopiles in the Chinese province of Guangdong have been designed and installed in record time to meet the demands of Chinese project developer SPIC, Guangdong Offshore Wind Power. The company has secured permits to install 3.2 GW offshore wind energy in one of the country's wealthiest and most populous provinces. According to Ramboll, the capacity would be enough to supply all of Denmark with power.
