Siemens Gamesa CEO: GE has something to prove

Even though the upgrade of its current offshore wind turbine to 10 MW is only a few months old, Siemens Gamesa wants a new and bigger platform ready for projects by the middle of the next decade, says Markus Tacke.

This past week has been quite productive for Siemens Gamesa. Last Monday, Vattenfall nominated the manufacturer for not just Hollandse Kust 1+2, but 3+4 as well, provided that the Swedish company in June wins the follow-up project, too. While EDF and Enbridge made the same choice the following day, after the Memorandum of Understanding signed with GE to utilize Haliade wind turbines was canceled on two of the consortium's French projects.
