New punitive tariffs may prove costly to the wind industry

Last week, the US escalated its trade war on China. Whether US President Donald Trump's threat of new USD 300 billion tariffs on Chinese goods as of September will impact the wind industry, and to what degree, remains uncertain. The industry is currently strained under the 25 percent tariff on Chinese steel. At the time of writing, the US Trade Representative (USTR) has not yet announced a full list of affected products.
