Statkraft buys Brazilian wind projects
Statkraft's multiplies its wind portfolio in Brazil with a large acquisition of projects in advanced stages of development.
According to sector media Recharge, the deal entails a combined capacity of 663.6 MW bought from local developer Casa dos Ventos for an undisclosed price. Statkraft already owned 129.7 MW of wind power in the country, and the new deal boosts the figure to 793.3 MW. Power purchase agreements have not been signed or any of these projects, but Ventos de Santa Eugênia is reportedly shortlisted in Brazil's coming auction on Oct. 18.
The 663.6 MW are distributed among two wind projects Ventos de São Vitorino and Ventos de Santa Eugênia, both of which Statkraft says are in advanced development stages.
"In Brazil, the ambition is to grow in a solid way to acquire and optimize assets in operations so as to expand hydro, wind and solar generation capacity," says Statkraft Brazil Chief Financial Officer Loeze Lobo Maia Junior, according to Recharge.
Altogether, Statkraft owns approximately 1.5 GW of renewable capacity in the country.
The deal has already received approval from Brazilian authority Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE)
