
For the time being, Norway has opened up two areas for offshore wind. Upwards of 1.5GW of floating wind will be installed at the Utsira Nord site, while 1.5GW bottom-fixed offshore wind is planned for Sørlige Nordsjø II, which will see an additional 1.5GW at a later stage.
”The authorities have allocated 1.5GW for Sørlige Nordsjø II. The dimensioning fault in the Nordic synchronous grid is 1.4GW,” says Statnett senior consultant Idar Gimmestad.
