Offshore wind rivals find unity for French tender
Two companies normally competing on wind at sea – RWE and TotalEnergies – have set up a partnership to bid for a tendered French offshore site, reports Renews.
Going by the name of A08, the area on auction is located off the coast of Normandy, where there’s space enough to install up to 1.6GW, the media writes.
”Together, we will mobilize all our expertise to provide the best solutions to the technical, commercial and societal challenges of this ambitious project, with the aim of integrating offshore wind energy into a strong territorial dynamic,” Renews cites TotalEnergies Offshore Wind Director Vanessa Godefroy commenting.
The site is close to another designated area, A04, tender bids for which ended in November last year, according to the media, with allocations expectedly announced at some point during the first quarter of 2023.
Combined, the two sites can reportedly host 2.5GW.
