German turbine manufacturer Siemens is catching up to rival Vestas after a prototype for a giant wind turbine has been approved.

After several years as the dominant player on the offshore wind market, Siemens has seen its rival Vestas gain ground with its gigantic V164-8.0 MW turbines, marketed by the company as the world's most powerful turbines.
