Germany launches auction of 1.55 GW offshore wind

German authorities have kicked off the country's first-ever offshore wind tender. The bidders must stay below EUR 0.12/kWh.

The first German offshore wind auction has begun. Developers have until April 3 to submit bids on projects in the German part of the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, where projects totaling 1.55 GW are up for tender, informs Germany's energy regulatory authority Bundesnetzagentur in a press release (German).
