Denmark will play a pivotal role in the impending development of offshore wind in China, according to Secretary General of trade organization Danish-Chinese Business Forum, Hans Henrik Pontoppidan. He says that Denmark is now able to gain greater access to the market, which will prove to be an entry ticket not only to the many GW expected to be installed along the Chinese coast, but also the wider Asia Pacific region (APAC).

"There is huge potential in China but that's nothing compared to the rest of APAC. My impression is that first China and Taiwan will develop and from there the largest and best players will roll out offshore wind in the rest of the region. If we miss China, this would be bad for Denmark and so we have to work hard to contribute. However, it has to be in a way that helps ourselves as well," he says.
