In terms of technological development, Vestas is taking its biggest step since 2010. Thursday at noon, the Danish turbine manufacturer launched its by-far largest onshore turbine to date, with three new turbine models with capacity of 4 to 4.2 MW. Besides the 4 MW turbine with the well-known rotor lengths of 117 and 136 meters, a V150 turbines was also presented, which will have a tip height of 241 meters.
Technically, the new turbines are a further development of the 3 MW platform, which was presented with the V112-3.0 turbine in the fall of 2009. It was upgraded in both 2012 and most recently to a V136-3.45 MW turbine in September 2015. But with the latest upgrade, Vestas is renaming the entire platform from 3MW to 4MW.
