Friday evening, Vestas added almost half a gigawatt to its 2017 orderbook. First, an order of 302 MW was announced for Warren Buffett's Wind XI project – where orders have now been placed for around 850 of the total 2,000 MW. This was followed by a 200 MW order from an unnamed customer just as it struck midnight on the US west coast, just managing to squeeze in to the second quarter order intake.
With the addition of these two orders, Vestas has secured 1,428 MW in the US for 2017 so far. An amount, which emphasizes the huge potential of the US market for the Danish manufacturer and also highlights that the company is now feeling the full impact of the US tax credit PTC.
