US doubles number of coming offshore vessels

US shipbuilders have begun the development of another installation vessel for offshore wind turbines while a former presidential candidate is trying to overturn a controversial law.

It began with plans for just one. Now project developers in the nascent US offshore wind industry can look forward to more options in installation vessels.

US shipyard Semco along with companies All Coast and A.K. Suda have launched the development of a vessel to transport and install upwards of four 8 MW wind turbines, states All Coast in a press release.
