New round of layoffs at the Siemens part of Siemens Gamesa

In the third round of layoffs in just one month, around half the workers at a US nacelle factory are being laid off, bringing the number of layoffs up to 1,000. The latest redundancies are attributed to tough times in the US.

The Siemens part of the newly merged wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa continues to drag down the business.

Just a few days after the company announced the layoffs of 600 employees at a blade factory in Denmark – only one month after 340 people at a blade factory in Canada were given pink slips – the manufacturer is now firing 140 workers at its nacelle factory in Hutchinson, Kansas, according to the local newspaper The Hutchinson News.
