Vattenfall enters massive deal with Microsoft

IT major Microsoft has signed a 10-year contract with the Swedish utility to purchase almost 300 MW of electricity to supply data centers.

Vattenfall has found a buyer for its future Dutch wind farm Wieringmeer. The Swedish energy company has signed a deal with Microsoft, which has committed to buy the electricity from the 295-MW farm for 10 years starting from operation launch in 2019, announces Vattenfall.

With this agreement, the IT company aims to ensure that all electricity for data centers in the Netherlands is fully covered by wind power.
