Europe's largest utility presents major growth

Enel's 2019 operating result shot far beyond the guidance target, and the utility aims to install 14 GW in wind and solar in the coming three years. Thermal generation, however, is still powering the company's business.

The largest utility in Europe has just grown even bigger. With EUR 80.3 billion on the books, Enel's 2019 revenue jumped 6.1 percent from the previous year, while earnings before interest, taxes, depreciations and amortizations swelled by 10.5 percent to EUR 17.9 billion – slightly past the EUR 17.8 billion guidance upgrade booked by the Italian company in November, when the net result forecast was set for EUR 4.8 billion, Enel informs in a statement on its preliminary annual financial statement, excluding the net result.
