Olkiluoto 3 stands to be an important but also much-needed expansion of Finnish energy supply. When completed, the plant will cover no less than 10 percent of Finnish energy needs with an annual output of 13 TWh.
Originally, the construction should have been finished in 2009. Delays, conflicts and cost overruns have pushed the deadline to 2018. Although the project is nearing its goal, the owners are concerned whether supplier Areva will live up to its duties.
