Huge potential for wind energy in the North Sea, but fishery, military and oil interests block realization of the region's potential, according to wind industry.

The Danish part of the North Sea has several times been declared a "Silicon Valley" of wind power generation. Resources in those waters are so enormous that they exceed Denmark's energy needs by far, and the region could as such play a key part in the entire EU's struggle to reach its climate change mitigation targets.
