Siemens Gamesa's new wind turbines are made for subsidy-free offshore wind

After several years wait, Siemens Gamesa has announced a 10 MW wind turbine – but this is not the most important aspect, says the head of technology, adding that a different figure makes all the difference.

Almost six years ago, Siemens Gamesa's CEO Markus Tacke predicted that the manufacturer would be ready with a 10 MW wind turbine by 2020. This became a reality Wednesday with the announcement of the latest turbine, with a prototype expected to be installed by the end of this year.
