A previous version of this article had the headline ”Vestas gets German-Spanish backing on US offshore wind market” - this was an incorrect headline that has now been changed. EnergyWatch apologizes for the mistake.
German-Spanish Siemens Gamesa leads the US market for wind turbines for offshore wind projects with almost twice the share of the order pipeline as Danish Vestas in second place, according to Recharge News.
Siemens Gamesa has a 57% share, or six projects with 7.34 GW in total capacity, of the US development projects that have already selected a supplier, according to data from the American Clean power Association.
Denmark’s Vestas comes in second with 32%, while US-based GE Vernova closes the gap in third place with 11%.
Vestas’ share is accounted for by the 1.51 gigawatt Atlantic Shores South 1 project, owned by EDF and Shell, and the 810 megawatt (MW) Empire Wind 1, owned by Equinor.
Danish Ørsted has chosen Siemens Gamesa for its 924 megawatt Sunrise Wind and 704 megawatt Revolution Wind projects.
