Tesla shares slump after GM’s Nikola stake, S&P omission

The US-based electric car manufacturer's stock slid in premarket trading Tuesday after the company was left out of the S&P 500 index, only to be compounded later when GM laid a few billion dollars into hydrogen-powered semi-truck maker Nikola Motor's equity.

Tesla Inc. shares slumped in US premarket trading Tuesday after the electric-vehicle maker missed out on being included in the S&P 500 Index, taking investors who had bet on its entry to the benchmark by surprise.
