MAN and DSME get approval for ammonia-powered mega-ship design

Two major suppliers to shipping, MAN Energy Solutions and shipbuilder DSME, have received approval for a ship design for a 23,000 teu container ship that will sail on ammonia. MAN expects that the ship can be delivered already in 2024. Updated.

It is far from unrealistic that ultra-large container ships will be sailing on ammonia in the next few years, if one asks engine-maker MAN Energy Solutions and South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, DSME.
