Tesla's China output rose 20% in June

US electric car maker Tesla produced 20% more cars in China compared to June a year ago.

In total, the Chinese factory in Shanghai was able to send 93,680 cars onto the streets last month, according to figures from China’s Passenger Car Association on Tuesday. This compares to 78,906 units in June 2022 and 77,695 vehicles in May, Bloomberg News reports.

On Sunday, Tesla announced that the company delivered a record number of new cars in the second quarter, exceeding analyst guidance across the company’s models.

The electric car manufacturer lowered prices on a number of its cars in the second quarter, which was reflected in sales, Bloomberg News wrote after Tesla published sales figures for the quarter on Sunday.

In the second quarter, Tesla delivered 466,140 electric cars, where analysts surveyed by Bloomberg News had expected 448,351 electric cars. This is 83% more EVs than in the same quarter a year ago. Both Model S/X and Model 3/Y deliveries exceeded expectations.

Production also beat expectations in April, May and June. Tesla produced 479,700 electric cars against expectations of 456,617 electric cars.

Tesla rose 6.7% on Monday - and fell 0.3% in the aftermarket.

The US stock markets are closed on Tuesday due to Independence Day, 4th of July.
