Tesla is on the way with an updated version of the company’s Model 3, and this is bound to challenge the competitors in the market, according to Ilyas Dogru, consumer economist at FDM.

”Tesla drops another bombshell, and this one is actually a big bombshell. Even though it’s a six-year-old car, it is light years ahead of its competitors, and now it just gets even better,” he says, according to Danish business media Finans.

The upcoming Model 3 will include a changed design, higher quality, better technology and increased range – all at a price that is DKK 10,000 higher than the current model.

In addition to increased competition, the launch could also mean that consumers will wait for the updated model to come to market, and this might affect Tesla’s sales of the otherwise popular Model Y, according to Dogru.

Tesla has stated that the updated Model 3 is expected to be ready for delivery in Europe at the end of October, starting at a price of DKK 339,990.
