Chinese giant invests in Tesla

An Asian technology giant has bought shares in US car manufacturer Tesla, lining the latter's pockets ahead of a new car model launch.

US electric car manufacturer Tesla now has a new major shareholder in China.

Tesla announced Tuesday that the technology group Tencent Holdings Ltd bought 5 percent of shares in the company for price corresponding to DKK 12 billion.
