Total slapped with historic climate case

The French oil and gas company is going to court – charged with having violated several laws in its home country. Total rejects the legal route as the right way of solving the climate crisis.

14 local authorities and five NGOs are taking legal action against French oil and gas supermajor Total, which will face proceedings in the Nanterre court just outside of Paris, marking the first climate litigation in the history of the Republic.
