French oil and energy giant Total has made liquefied natural gas, LNG, a cornerstone in its global utility strategy. And with a portfolio of approximately 40 million metric tons per year and a share of more than 10 percent of the global market, the firm is already the second-largest LNG operator in the world.

Now, Total means to further dial up propagation of the cooled gas via a new collaboration with technology company Siemens.

In a joint press release, the parties state they will work together to find the best solutions for LNG production with as low CO2 footprints as possible.

The duo's most important joint effort will be to examine a range of different designs of LNG facilities to determine the cheapest, most reliable, dependable and climate-friendly plant.
