Eva Lundin, the widow of Lundin Group Founder Adolf Lundin, died on Christmas Day at the age of 88 after being involved in an accident on Caribbean island Mustique, reports media Dagens Industri, citing statements from her grandchildren.

"It is with great sorrow that we are obliged to inform that our mother, Eva Lundin, died on Dec. 25, 2021, after being in an accident on the island Mustique in St. Vincent and the Grenadines," the statement reads.

The Lundin Group consists of ten companies within commodities, the largest of which is Lundin Mining and oil outfit Lundin Energy.

Roughly a week back, the latter was acquired by Aker BP in a transaction worth NOK 125bn. The deal also left the Lundin family owning 14.4 percent interest in the buyer via Luxembourg-based holding company Nemesia, which the media says contains shares of Lundin companies valued at around SEK 50bn.

Albeit engaged in the company, Eva Lundin, who spent her last 55 years living in Switzerland, played no formal role in the family-owned oil company besides, after Adolf Lundin's death in 2006, her having taken over receiving monthly pension payments as agreed by the board of directors. The annual total of these payments was CHF 138,000.
