Oil & Gas UK has changed its name to Offshore Energies.

The association confirms the news on its webpage.

The name change is meant to signify that it will no longer focus exclusively on oil and gas sectors, but also on carbon capture and storage.

If this sounds familiar to some, it might be because the Danish counterpart changed its name from Oil Gas Denmark to Danish Offshore, which was announced in December in connection with the association's annual conference.

A large number of the biggest oil outfits in Europe have changed their names in recent years as part of a rebranding away from oil and gas. Among them are Equinor (formerly Statoil), TotalEnergies (formerly Total) and Lundin Energy (formerly Lundin Petroleum)
