Russia is displeased with the German federal government’s decision to suspend the approval process for natural gas pipeline Nord Stream 2, meant to transmit large fuel volumes from the Russia to Europe.

The nation hopes the delay is temporary, says Dmitrij Peskov, spokesperson from the Russian presidential office, reports Russian news agency Interfax, according to Danish news agency Ritzau.

Germany’s decision comes as a reaction to the Ukraine conflict. If and when the approval process for Nord Stream 2 will resume is still uncertain.

First off, Berlin has ordered a new analysis of supply security, while German Chancellor Olaf Scholz urges conflict de-escalation.
