Danish government unable to halt routine flaring at North Sea oil field

The Danish Energy Agency lacks legal mandate for issuing an immediate injunction against French oil major TotalEnergies' routine flaring of surplus gas at the Gorm field, says Minister of Climate, Energy and Utilities Dan Jørgensen.

The Danish government is preparing a ban against routine gas flaring. Nevertheless, the Danish Energy Agency (DEA), the authority in this area, has no mandate to issue an injunction against the practice, which is currently taking place at TotalEnergies' Gorm field in the Danish part of the North Sea.
