Danish biogas company Nature Energy is set to install its first North American biogas facility near Quebec, Canada.

Here, Nature Energy will invest USD 100m with an initial purchase of land priced at USD 2.4m, writes Danish media Energy Supply.

"We are pleased with the reception our purchase of the lot in Farnham has been given. Our business model is based on local involvement where particularly farmers' contributions play an important role in produciton. Our upcoming biogas facilities will create value for the local farmers, and we look forward to working together on contributing to make the Canadian gas supply greener," says CEO of Nature Energy Ole Hvelplund to the media.

The plant is slated for commissioning in 2023 at which stage it will convert biomass from local agricultural production, industry and institutions into biogas. It is expected to produce 20 million m3 of biogas annually. Nature Energy has plans for an additional 10 facilities of similar design in Quebec.
