Methanol beats LNG as preferred alternative fuel in 2023

The orders mark an increase of 8% from 2022, and Methanol has gone ”mainstream”, according to DNV’s alternative fuels insights platform.

The number of newbuilding vessels that can sail on alternative fuel increased by 8% in 2023 to a total of 298 vessels. The largest order was for methanol-fueled vessels.
