Welltec sees sluggish CCS market: "We have a hard time seeing where the customers are"

A carbon tax is needed to grow the market for carbon capture and storage, says Welltec’s CEO.
”The products are there, the technology is there, but we have a hard time seeing where the customers are. There are many operators who want to do this and there is talk of many injection wells, but there hasn’t been much concrete progress yet,” Welltec's chief exec tells EnergyWatch. | Photo: Pr/welltec

There is a long way to go before the market for carbon capture and storage (CCS) takes off, according to Peter Hansen, CEO of Welltec, a Danish supplier of robotic wells for the oil and gas industry, which has also identified the CCS market as a future source of revenue.
