Aker BP drills its way to impressive result

Last year's merger of Det Norske and BP seems to have paid off. The resulting company, Aker BP, is now raking it in.

The oil crisis seems to be a thing of the past for Norwegian oil company Aker BP, suggests the company's first quarter interim report. The quarter saw revenue triple its size while the net result more than doubled relative to the same quarter last yea'

The figures, however, should be seen in light of that fact that Aker BP was created in a merger last year, meaning that last year's figures are taken from the two then-independent companies, BP Norge and Aker Group's company Det Norske.
