Record-high number of applicants for Norwegian oil tender

Never before have so many companies applied to drill for oil and gas on the Norwegian shelf. The recent tender saw 39 new applications.

The oil crisis seems to be fading further into the past - if the interest in hunting for oil on the Norwegian shelf  is anything to go by.

An entire 39 companies have declared their interest in securing exploration lisences for Norway in this year's tender. There are close to double as many applications as last year, and 20 percent more than the previous record stemming from 2014, reveals Norway's oil and energy department.
