Government negotiations collapse in Germany

Disagreement in areas including energy have prompted liberal party FDP to withdraw from the current negotiations to form a government. This leaves Angela Merkel with few alternatives.

Around six weeks after the general election, Germany is still far from establishing a new government coailition. German government negotiations between Angela Merkel's party CDU/CSU, the Green Party and liberal party FDP crumbled Sunday evening local time when FDP opted to withdraw.
