Germany's CDU votes for consensus

The German target for the next decade's offshore wind expansion could be boosted by a further five gigawatts.

CDU (German Christian Democratic Party), the largest governing party in the German coalition, has nominated Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer to its new chair post. Friday, the 56-year-old former leader of Germany's smallest state Saarland became the preferred successor to Angela Merkel with a narrow majority of 517 out of 999 delegates.
