UK climate committee proposes 75 GW offshore wind by 2050

The British government's Committee on Climate Change recommends that parliament set a net-zero emissions target for 2050 and leave the political details for later. The country's current policy does not even point in the direction of living up the its climate commitments.

Wednesday, British parliament voted to declare a national state of emergency regarding climate and environment. Beyond being a proposal with broad political support in the House of Commons, initially the declaration is mainly a symbolic gesture not yet backed by concrete policy.
