Norway wants to balance grid taxes

Residents in Norway's outlying regions pay up to 25 percent more in grid taxes than those living in Oslo. The government now intends to change this by providing aid to citizens in peripheral municipalities.

The hope of both consumers and network companies was that the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) would submit a proposal as to what to do about the unbalanced grid taxes, when a report on the matter was published on Nov. 4.
