German coal phase-out plan to be implemented in H1 2020

The German federal government's plan to completely phase out its coal-fired power plants no later than 2038 will contain measures for closing individual plants against a billion-euro compensation.

The German federal government expects to implement the country's coal-exit legislation during the first half of this year. The legislation determines how the phase-out of coal-fired power plants will be carried out toward the deadline, set to no later than 2038. The plan entails closing every single power plant and financial compensation for impacted operators.
